Busy Weeknight Dinner Tips

Picture this: it’s Tuesday evening, feels like it should be Friday. Work’s been stressful. Life’s been busy. The last thing you want to do is cook a meal. Sound familiar? Hopefully it’s not your everyday, but for most of us, it’s been our day at one time or another.

Putting a homemade meal on the table during the week requires some planning, but it is worth it and will help you achieve your goals. Here are a few quick tips to help out with dinners on those busy nights.

Prep Weekly

Take an hour or so on Sunday to prep your food for the week. While it may seem like a small task, washing and chopping fruits and vegetables for the week can save you major time in the kitchen on weeknights.

Meal Plan

Save yourself 15 minutes of staring at the cabinets and rummaging through the refrigerator by making a meal plan and following it. Not only does meal planning save time, it also eliminates the stress of figuring out dinner on the fly.

Make Double Batches

Before you begin cooking, consider if the meal or part of the meal you are making would freeze and reheat well. If the answer is yes, make a double batch! Cooking once and eating twice is the ultimate time saver.

Keep Recipes Simple

A hurried Wednesday night is not the time to try your hand at slow-roasting a chicken – save it for Saturday. When it comes to weeknight meals, the simpler the recipe, the better. The more you have to coordinate, the more time-consuming the meal prep will be.
